Los Olivos, CA (February 17, 2014) – Bacon & Barrels, the definitive outdoor festival for the bacon obsessed foodies and those who prefer their drinks from a barrel, announced today that San Diego’s, The Silent Comedy will headline the event, with support from San Luis Obispo's, The Monroe
Create Promotions, the event producers of Bacon & Barrels, sought out bands that would bring a high-energy live show and would represent the festival, which aims to celebrate food, libations and music.
About The Silent Comedy: The Silent Comedy is a San Diego-based group of musicians mixing Americana, Folk and Rock n’ Roll into a sound that is best understood by experiencing their live show. Brothers Joshua and Jeremiah Zimmerman started the band to capture the feeling of the bar culture they worked in and the revival meetings they grew up attending. The outcome is an experience that has been described as “a whiskey tent revival.”
The band is made up of Joshua (bass/vocals) and Jeremiah Zimmerman (keys, vocals, guitar) together with their cousin Chad Lee (drums) and long-time friend Justin Buchanan (mandolin/banjo). The band has roots in the craft beer and cocktail scene in California that have added to the rowdy reputation of their live shows. What started as a loyal base of bartenders and beer brewers has grown to a community of dedicated fans all over the world.
Through placement in projects such as Hatfields & McCoys, starring Kevin Costner, and the History Channel’s original series The Men Who Built America (to name a few), The Silent Comedy has been able to reach an even larger audience that is growing with each shot of whiskey.
About The Monroe: The Monroe is an eclectic band, drawing influences from many genres of music. Combining Tones of Soul, Rock and Roll, Reggae/Ska, Gospel, and Folk. The group is, Morgan Monroe (lead vocals), Renny Currin (Guitar), Taylor Nicole Belmore (Drums), Isapony XD (keys), and Ryan Paterson (Bass). Each member brings with them a different angle to music to create one band, one sound, unique and familiar.
Morgan, with gospel roots, brings a rich and soulful vocal power. Intense and direct, as a lyricist and storyteller she commands her audience with genuine stage presence. Renny, both a driving and melodic guitarist, gives raw electric energy to the band. Taylor, comes from a long lineage of ballerinas and one infamous belly dancer. A natural drummer, she is the heartbeat of the group. Isapony XD has a doctorate in digital dexterity and Ryan holds down the bottom and hints of punk with his bass.
The Monroe just took home the gold at the 2013 New Times Music Awards for Best Original R&B song and for Best Live Performance.
